This Week at Prince of Peace August 26, 2018

Chris Schaefer will be preaching for us August 25 and 26.

Please plan on welcoming him. Chris has been assigned to the Delaware-Maryland synod and has recently moved to the Baltimore area. He is awaiting call. We anxiously wait with him to see where God leads him next!

Join Pastor Christine on Sunday, August 26th at 10:45 am to discuss the ELCA’s Draft Social Statement on Women and Justice. This is a great opportunity to consider the church’s role in raising up women, in addressing bias, and dismantling systems which have historically silenced women. Please try to read at least the first 10 pages before our discussion. Questions? Please see Pastor Christine. A copy of the statement can be downloaded here .

Bible Art Journaling.

Join us Sunday, August 26 from 6-8pm. Carmen Hill uses her artistic skills to guide us in our creativity based on a brief scripture lesson led by Pastor Christine. This is a fun and creative way to get into God’s Word and enjoy each other’s company. Questions? Contact Pastor Christine.

Pastor Steve is on vacation August 20 – September 5.

School Supply Drive Thanks!

The congregation was generous in their abundant donations of backpacks, binders, paper & notebooks, etc! Your support of this critical program is greatly appreciated. Thank you all! And thanks to Joan Kawolik who organized the drive and delivered everything!

*NEW* PB&J for the Hungry

We are collecting peanut butter and jelly for Gaithersburg HELP to celebrate Back-to-School and help restock their pantry. Donations can be left in the special collection bucket in the narthex. The drive will continue through October, so please consider picking up something to donate each time you shop. The Sunday School will also be participating in this collection. If you have children, please encourage them to bring some to Sunday School.

KIDS: Bring your backpack with you to worship on September 1 or 2!

We will bless your backpacks during the children’s message as you begin a new school year. If you don’t attend school or daycare, bring a coloring book or some other item that you do ‘work’ in at home. BIG Kids (middle & high school): Please bring your backpacks too and join the younger kids up front that day. The more the merrier!
